Hair cut today - May 24
I got a hair cut today, my third with Noelle. She really does a great job cutting my hair, and for some reason, when she cuts my hair I can go twice as long between hair cuts. I appreciate that because I’m still trying to grow it out, and cutting my number of hair cuts in half has really helped with that process.
She never cuts a lot, so I basically always just need a trim and re-shaping. This time she did a bit more layering to help increase the volume. My hair gets really heavy when it gets long, so this is a good way to boost the curl. I love that she never cuts too much and I never feel like I’ve sacrificed a lot of hair. She has curly hair herself, so that’s a big reason why she’s so good at cutting it.
I’ll try to post a picture of the cut in a few days.

Getting a haircut for me has to be one of the most stressful experiences. I always wonder if I'm going to come out looking better or worse.....
The last time I got a cut 9 months ago , I ended up with hair shelves. Literally my hair was in four distinct tiers. It looked like successions of Bozo hair cuts in different lengths. And the worst part was that the top layer was so short that i couldn't get it to all stay in a ponytail to disguise the horrible mess. Ahhhhhhh! It's finally grown put now and I'm feeling brave again but I'm going to get some reccomendations from other curly heads before I take the leap.
Does anyone know a hair stylist in the Minneapolis area that specializes in cutting curly/wavy hair - or - is just exceptionally good at it?
Thanks.
You should check out the salon locator at NaturallyCurly.com. Curlies from around the country have posted reviews (both good and bad!) of hair cuts they've gotten. It's a great way to get some piece of mind before seeing a new stylist. Here's the link. Just click on your state and you'll see all the reviews for that state. http://naturallycurly2.com/curlsalons/salons_map.php
hi jessicurl!
i just got my haircut too and i hate it!!
where is the best place to go for wavy/curly hair in humboldt co?
sincerely,

eureka, ca
Congrats on the new blog Jess! I'm glad you like your new haircut! My thick, wavy, hair has yet to meet a cut it likes. When I don't have the weight of long hair I get called all sorts of things like "poufy", "puppy" (because it looks like I have floopy dog ears apparently), "mophead, mushroom...". Frankly I'm afraid to try anything now much more than a trim.
Hi Amber:
I suggest Noel at Sun In My Hair Designs in Eureka. It's in the shopping center with Big 5, over by the mall. She's cut my hair 3 times now, and has done a great job each time. She has curly hair too and does really understand it. The phone number is 707-444-2296. Good luck! :-)
Jess
Hi to Amber,
I had the same problem and I followed Jessie's advice and had Noelle cut my hair. What a great haircut!! Then I went away for a month, have been back two weeks and still don't need a haircut. It's grown out so beautifully! She's also just very nice.

Would love to find someone like that here in San Antonio, TX. I can't afford $50+ haircuts (also have to use color & hightlighting to cover the premature gray!), but my ultra fine, not very much of it, 3B hair could sure use a friend! No luck finding someone on NaturallyCurly.com
