You've waited so long, and I'm VERY excited to share this news with you, as you'll see in this video. :)
A few people asked me recently on Instagram what products I use on my hair. I gave them the exact products in my answer, but of course the whole routine is a little long to reply in an IG comment. :) The routine is posted on my website in the Curly Care section, but I thought it might be a good idea to post it on the blog too to make it easier to find. :)
I'll take this opportunity to say this - the whole routine from start to finish only takes about 45 minutes including shower time, it just LOOKS long all typed out. :)
I color my hair with Ion Color Brilliance color every 6-8 weeks. I've used many brands over the years and I prefer this one to get a nice, vibrant red that doesn't fade. I use2 parts Light Copper Blonde and 1 part Intense Red. (My natural color was a strawberry blonde so this just takes it all the way to red.) A few times a week I put in a dime sized puddle of Oil Blend For Softer Hair and leave it in overnight and once a week I use my Deep Conditioning Treatment to provide extra moisture. I get little trims every 3-4 months to take care of any dead ends and re-shape it. If I don’t, my hair turns triangular pretty fast. :)
It's that time of year again. :) We know from your feedback that you love Jessicurl products (and we thank you!), and we'd love if you'd tell the world through NaturallyCurly.com's annual Best Of The Best awards. It's like the curly hair Oscars and we've been thrilled and honored to win in various categories every year since the awards were created.
The best part for you is that everyone who completes the survey gets a discount code for 20% at NaturallyCurly.com!
Please note that in order for your entry to qualify, the specific product must be listed. For instance, "Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream" rather than simply "Jessicurl."
The survey closes on Monday August 14th, 11:59pm CT.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to tell the world how much you love Jessicurl! Have a curly day!
Millions of women for virtually millions of reasons find themselves with thinning or shedding hair. We might as well get real and talk about it, eh? I have some real talk and practical ideas on what to do when it happens to you. Because it's happening to me too.
Last weekend I was in Chicago for America's Beauty Show and got a great haircut from the owners/creators of Raw Curls. Here's a little video update, and also an introduction of the newest member of the Jessicurl family. :)
Here is the hair before and after my cut from Melanie. :)
Our good friends at NaturallyCurly.com did a great write up about us today, called The Dos and Don'ts Of Using Jessicurl Products. We have some fabulous curly hair specialists that carry Jessicurl in their salons, and we love to feature interviews with them here on the blog. Today I'm happy to introduce you to Cala Renee of Beverly, MA.
How long have you been in business?
I opened in November 1989.
Where are you located?
The salon is located at 309 Rantoul St, Beverly, MA 01915
What made you go into the hair business?
My first reason was I was not enjoying college at all and my second reason was I was tired of getting haircuts I did not like.
What is unique about your work, what sets you apart?
We are one of the few ALL curly staff salons in our area. 80% of my personal clientele is curly. Because of our own curls, clients know we get it.
If you specialize in curly hair, what made you adopt that focus?
In the 90’s, I was a conservative cutter because I understood spring factor. In the 2000’s, I learned and adopted the curl-by-curl dry cutting technique and loved it.
What changes have you seen in relation to curly hair in the last 10 years?
Many! Product knowledge. How moisture is such an important part of daily care. And how people want to wear their hair more natural. Even print work in magazines is curly now more than ever.
On the 3rd Thursday of each month I do a real-time question and answer chat on Facebook so Jessicurl fans can get their hair questions answered. Since not everyone is able to participate due to scheduling, I thought I'd put a few of the questions that came up this past week here in the blog. Hopefully something here helps you in your hair routine. :)
Question: What's the difference between the Confident Coils product and the Rockin' Ringlets? I've actually used them both, but a long time ago for the Confident Coils one. I seem to remember that the Confident Coils one had less hold, but I can't really be sure. I love the Rockin' Ringlets one to pieces, but it seems to make my hair a little dry.
Answer: The two products actually work really well together. Rockin' Ringlets is quite curl enhancing, so it helps to tighten the curls. Confident Coils is great for curl definition and frizz control. So together, they're like a bra: lift and separate. :) Of the two, Confident Coils has more hold. I hope that helps but let me know if you have any other questions. :)
This is a great time to remind you all that we have several product demo videos on our site that show some really helpful tricks and tips for applying the products and getting the best results. You can check those out here.
Question: Are there any products that you suggest to use in place of Spiralicious until the drought is over? A combination, perhaps, that will have the same effect?
Dear Jessicurl Customers,
In early February of this year we introduced a new formulation of Spiralicious using Optiphen rather than Germall as the preservative. Although we had tested the new formulation extensively prior to its release, we are receiving some reports of the product turning color and separating. At this point it is not clear if the issue affects all Spiralicious made with Optiphen or just some of the batches, but out of an abundance of caution we have decided to go back to the original formulation until we understand the issues and are confident the new formulation will reliably perform the way we expect it to. Just for reference, Optiphen contains Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, and Phenoxyethanol, and Germall contains Diazolidinyl Urea, and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.
We have contacted all of our customers who have ordered directly from us, whether on the web or from a salon, but know that many of you buy from your stylist or beauty supply store, so we want to make sure the message gets to you as well.
If you have bought Spiralicious between February 1, 2016 and May 31, 2016 with batch codes between 8436 and 8961, we would like to replace it for you free of charge. Alternatively, you can look at the last section of the ingredients list and if it contains Phenoxyethanol, it is the Optiphen version. Any product with batch codes lower or higher than those listed, or which don’t contain Phenoxyethanol, are the original Germall formulation and should be fine.
