Type 3 hair is known for definite "s" pattern curls. They are often well defined and springy which can lead to a lot of body, but they also can be easily styled in its natural state or straightened with a blower dryer. Despite popular beliefs, type 3 hair isn't coarse, but soft and fine - there's just a lot of it!There are three subtypes of type 3 hair, but 3C curls get their own page since they're so unique! And combinations of 3A and 3B curls is also fairly common!

3A

These curls are naturally big, loose and usually very shiny. Their about the size of sidewalk chalk in terms of circumference and can be seen on celebrities like AnnaLynne McCord, Debra Messing, Taylor Swift and Nicole Kidman.

3B

These curls are tighter than type A, usually having the circumference of a sharpie. They can also start to form ringlets instead of curls. Celebrities like Crystal Westbrooks or Melina Kanakaredes have type 3B curls if you want a better idea of what they look like.
