Important Information About Spiralicious Styling Gel

Dear Jessicurl Customers,

In early February of this year we introduced a new formulation of Spiralicious using Optiphen rather than Germall as the preservative. Although we had tested the new formulation extensively prior to its release, we are receiving some reports of the product turning color and separating. At this point it is not clear if the issue affects all Spiralicious made with Optiphen or just some of the batches, but out of an abundance of caution we have decided to go back to the original formulation until we understand the issues and are confident the new formulation will reliably perform the way we expect it to. Just for reference, Optiphen contains Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, and Phenoxyethanol, and Germall contains Diazolidinyl Urea, and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.

We have contacted all of our customers who have ordered directly from us, whether on the web or from a salon, but know that many of you buy from your stylist or beauty supply store, so we want to make sure the message gets to you as well. 

If you have bought Spiralicious between February 1, 2016 and May 31, 2016 with batch codes between 8436 and 8961, we would like to replace it for you free of charge. Alternatively, you can look at the last section of the ingredients list and if it contains Phenoxyethanol, it is the Optiphen version. Any product with batch codes lower or higher than those listed, or which don’t contain Phenoxyethanol, are the original Germall formulation and should be fine.

To receive your replacement for bottles bought in the US, please email a proof of purchase along with your phone number and mailing address to us at [email protected]. If you bought it from one of our international partners, please contact them directly, as they will issue you a replacement. 

As we are destroying all affected batches and replacing them for customers, our production of Spiralicious has been slower than normal. As such, it will take several weeks for you to receive your replacement. We deeply regret the delay and appreciate your patience with the process. 

If your Spiralicious is performing well for you, terrific!  However, just as with any Jessicurl product, if you are unhappy with it, we will make it right!  Sincerely,
